The Future Ain't What it Used to Be: 7 Future Trends That Will Change The Way You Do Youth Work

What will youth work be like in the future? This session explores the possibilities by examining various trends that are either taking place or being predicted by social scientists. What will be the impact of the economic, technological, social, and demographic changes that we are currently experiencing or anticipating? How will youth workers need to adapt and change their practice in order to be effective? We'll look at various indicators and trends and reflect on what they might mean for us. We'll conclude by using our imagination to identify the future we want for the field.

Tom Plake

Tom Plake, MSOD, CYC-P is the co-creator and Chief Experience Officer for The Journey, a collection of programs of the Indiana Youth Services Association, focused on personal and professional development for youth workers in Indiana. He is also the president of Creative Resources, Inc., where he helps leaders Struggle Less, BE More and live and work at their creative edge.
