Exploring Ethics in Youth Work






In this session we will explore ethics codes from four different practice settings in child and youth work. Discussion will include what ethics are and are not, and identify some similarities and differences between the codes. Sample scenarios and discussion steps will show participants how to apply the concepts and incorporate ethics into their work.


Meet the instructor

Jeananne Reich

Jeananne is a youth worker who is passionate about professional development. With over 25 years in the field, her background includes work in residential facilities, substance abuse centers, and afterschool programs. As the Indiana CYC Director, Jeananne applies her experience and skills to coordinate CYC Certification for the state. In this role, she coaches and trains youth workers for certification, and supports organizations with professional development resources. She is a Lead Trainer with the Academy for Competent Youth Work, a Safe Sitter instructor, and teaches CPR for the American Heart Association. She is a graduate of Hope College in Holland, MI where she obtained a B.A. in Psychology/Sociology. In her free time, Jeananne likes to hang out with her family, watch movies, and go skating.
